As we step into 2025, we reflect with both sorrow and gratitude on the life and legacy of our beloved co-founder, Joan Woodbury, who passed away a little over a year ago. Joan’s visionary leadership and boundless creativity, alongside Shirley Ririe’s, built a company that has been a cornerstone of the contemporary dance world for over 60 years. Their shared legacy continues to inspire generations of artists and audiences.

In honor of their extraordinary contributions, we are proud to continue raising funds for The Joan Woodbury and Shirley Ririe Legacy Works Fund. This annual fund celebrates their pioneering spirit by supporting the creation of innovative choreographic works and ensuring that artists are compensated on a level that reflects their immense talent, dedication, and history. Joan and Shirley believed in the value of investing in artists, and this fund carries forward their uncompromising vision and commitment.

Thanks to the generosity of Stephanie & Tim Harpst and Bick Robbins, every dollar donated to the Legacy Works Fund by December 31, 2024, will be matched up to $15,000. That means your gift will have double the impact—together, we will raise $30,000 to ensure Joan and Shirley’s legacy continues to thrive.
